One of our projects is supplying Wrinch Hospital with care packages when someone comes in on an emergency and does not have personal cleaning items. We give them to the nurses at the hospital and they give them out. Each bag holds a comb, toobrush kit, shaving kit, fingernail clippers, shampoo and conditioner, mouthwash and handcream with a note saying it was donated by us and a few bible verses with a picture.
Tonite seven ladies met in the church kitchen for a little vespers. I had opening prayer and Charlotte read a story about a lady who had gone shopping at night. She parked her car at the far end of the parking lot, went inside the store and did her usual buying. On her way back she ws followed by a man with a gun. She managed to get in the car and by this time he was going to bang on the windows. She was praying so hard but her car would not start. As the gun came down on the window, suddenly her car started and she took off.
Once at home she told her husband and he checked the car out only to find in their surprised amazement that the battery was gone. AN ANGEL certainly was looking after her, for how could her car start with no battery. They just had their car inspected with no problems................
Did we have fun tonight?????? Once we got organized and Florence started singing and when the bagging was just about over we were starting to enjoy ourselves. Well, with perfectionism in mind we lined up all the little bottles in a row, handed it to the next person to put in their thing and then to the next one!!!!!. finally a comb, sealed the bag--put it in the box. DONE!
We did have fun talking about how we were brought up, raised our kids strict too, laughed about this and that, can't remember, oh yes! and our angel experiences too, it was fun. For a light meal there was toast and sliced oranges and a plumb/banana smoothie. Thank you Charlotte for organizing this and for all the other ladies who come out.

Details...........
It's almost the weekend, and time for a little reflecting on a "detail." I'm finding that it's in the details, that God often gently guides me on this journey.....

As I sit here in the computer/sunroom....It strikes me...THE DETAIL, (not the dust:), although the way the sun is shining in here...it COULD be the detail..:)) but it's the SUPPLIES that surround me...Those of you who happen to know me in the 'real' world know that I have a tendency to gravitate to things like
~~paper~~pens~~fonts~~stamps~~ink~~ribbon and trinkets~~quotations~and~more paper~
I have been collecting these goodies for YEARS and they delight me ~ but there is a message here, and when I look closer ~ As always, when I pay attention, I see it.There are so many opportunities in this little 'stash' of mine....there really is. An opportunity to spread LOVE and JOY! To take a simple piece of paper or stamp and turn it into something thoughtful for someone else.....We all have gifts that we need to share with others...this is just a small way I can spread some Joy, Love, Encouragement or Inspiration....

Look at the videos of Paul below at the bottom of yesterdays post. He loved to sing and gave whole audiences his voice. This fellow on LLBN, platform chairman, was so humorous he made everyone in church smile.
Look at the world around you....for instance Lorna's store used to read 'food for thought', what was she trying to say? - good food, health, messages from Christ to choose good food. We sang this song too and after the closing of the video we sang four more verses, thank you Florence.
2:00 --I came down to the church to set up the tables and chairs, put on the table cloths and fill the jar with water that had the last of my snipped roses placed inside.
3:00 already! I needed to put together a cornmeal cake before the ladies came. So with that cooking in the oven I waited and waited and waited.
The clock said 4:00 now, why wasn't anybody here yet? You can see the cornbread was cooking nicely and the smell filled the room enough to make a hungry person salivate. Finally the 'jonnycake', as we called it in those days, was ready, it smelled so good and still no one was here.
4:30, quarter to. So I decided to take bite out of the corner. Yum! Another bite. By that time I decided that the clock had not been changed from weeks ago. I changed the time and two ladies came in just then with my mouth full hahhha , so with the customary explainations, Jo told me to stay out of the food. Oh well! and promptly gave a piece to both of them (jo and bonnie)
Look how she is putting that cheese on the plate! in a perfect circle.......
bONNIE came the same time as Jo and is waiting until everyone arrives. Notice the tables how they are ????*****By then all the ladies arrived, except Valerie who went to pick up Alice because her phone was down all day and we couldn't get hold of her, she came later, and we decided to change the tables around again because that was the way we always had the tables!!!!! And yes, it was more comfortable that way...... by the time Valerie came back there was time to chat and do what ladies do--chat some more!! We were having fun anyway trying to get settled.
Here is Norman snitching some corn bread. Actually that is not true because we offered him some as he graciously helped Betty carry in her soup and he waited for her until the meeting was over.

POPPY DEMO
Materials needed:
some sheer red material - organza
Blue or black pipe cleaner - 6 or 7 inch length
bobby pin or safety pin
hot glue gun
sissors
paper and pencil for approx a 4 1/2 inch template
With paper cut out template for a four petal poppy and trace the pattern on the red material. Cut out two layers of material, separate the layers and stagger the petals. Pinch the centers and twist the pipe cleaner around the center, fastening it and wrap it in a tiny circle several times to make the center of the flower. Open it up and hot glue a bobby pin for your hair on the back side or a pin for a coursage.

But thank God that when such men rise to power, that our young men and women rise up to defend the rest of us and are willing to sacrifice their life in order to save ours.Today we remember all service men and women with much thanksgiving and grateful hearts. Where would so many of us be today had it not been for these dedicated young men and women?
As another has said so well:

Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,

Prayer in the Kitchen
Every month we go over our prayer requests from last month and a couple of amazing things have happened:
Pearl's eyes are gradually getting better, finally she can see now!! even without wearing glasses although she will eventually need them.
Valerie from a life excpectancy of staying a home is now being able to go back to work with a change in medication. And so with some variations this is good news.
This month here are our requests for answered prayer again:

--Clarisa to have a healthy delivery on the 22nd and to hear from Jaimie as she has moved to Kelowna, and Curt's marriage on the 8th of Dec.
--Florence's grandchildren
--Randy Kandt- who is having cancer surgery**
--Alice's phone line to be repaired
--Bonnie's family
--Gail's teeth, they will fit well

Project Passage Transition House
....is for ladies and children leaving to find new homes or to get away to a safe place until their situation improves. There are 16 beds and 2 cribs available with a handicap space. The bathrooms are shared. There is a play room for the kids, a living room, kitchen is used by the residents to fix their own breakfasts and lunches. Supper is made for the whole group. The attic was fixed up this summer for extra storage space. When people arrive, they choose clothes and other things provided by donations that they weren't able to pick up when they left home.We have collected a few items already from the ladies at the meeting and are leaving it open until the 15th of December to the rest of the church members and any of you out in internet land who would like to send donations of some sort. Here is what we are looking for:
*Desk type things --note pads, writing and coloring things for children also as coloring books and crayons, puzzles
*Christmas gifts -not stuffed toys--filled stockings, cards and stamps
*Combs, brushes, toothpaste and brushes, mirrors
*Towels and face cloths
*Microwavable things --popcorn teas, chocolate
*Bedding
*Clothing items - new underwear, pajamas, socks, winter clothes, this will include for children also.
Jo urges each one to gather a nice supply of things to not only fill the basket, but to help fill the people's hearts with HOPE at this hard time in their lives. We should pray for those that will receive our gifts for God to especially draw close to them in their time of need. Some of the ladies have had to deal with drug issues and so we have placed the books we had from Cherie Peters seminar.
If Mary and Jesus had to flee without Joseph to Smithers instead of Egype, what would we give them for Christmas? Give generously. Thank you.
